Resources I Use

I have many "tools" and resources to assist your progress including advanced skills in EFT, EMDR and CBT.

Should you decide to take advantage of them, here is a brief overview of some approaches we might use:

EFT (Emotional Freedom Technique)
For some clients, this simple to learn, simple to practice technique is the backbone of the work I do. You would be guided to tap lightly on the body, or gently move the eyes or body, speaking out-loud the upsetting thought or feeling, or an affirmation statement. Although it is simple, it's the delivery, after years of practice, that makes it an art form, and so very effective.

EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing):
Again, you would be guided to gently move the eyes or body, while visualizing the upsetting thought or feeling. EMDR has a huge body of research to support it's effectiveness. Sometimes we might use a tiny hand held device that delivers alternating (bilateral) pulses, or music to stimulate brain activity while you focus. This body-mind connection often brings relief in the form of a reduction, or elimination, of the emotional charge in the body's energy system, and thereby providing a more stable environment for you to manage or eliminate unwanted behaviors or situations in the future.

Byron Katie and THE WORK
Challenge your reality system with Byron Katie's Worksheet. Like CBT (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy) she challenges the logic, reality and effectiveness of your thoughts, feelings, beliefs, and behavior. "Is what you are doing (thinking, feeling, believing) having the effect you want? Is it making you happier and more peaceful?"

Donna Eden's Energy Medicine:
Learn basic energy medicine skills, which will stabilize and enhance your work with me. With a simple 5-minute energy routine, you will calm your nervous system and energize your body. As Donna says, "We have to evolve!"

TIR (Traumatic Incident Reduction):
You would be guided through a "viewing" process of a traumatic incident while telling the story repeatedly. This often brings relief in the form of a reduction, or elimination, of the emotional charge surrounding the incident, and makes integration of the information into present reality more manageable, thus helping your emotional foundation to be more stable.

IFS (Internal Family Systems):
You would be guided to observe, relate to and interact with a variety of inner voices or "personalities" that may be having an impact on your functioning and decision making process. This may make it easier for you to understand your inner process and increase your empowerment.

Kathy Paauw and PAAuWERFULLY ORGANIZED
If you need to get organized, Kathy Paauw will get guide you every step of the way. She uses the Paper Tiger software which I highly recommend.

Heartmath Software
Heart coherence is an important part of mental, emotional and physical health. You may use this software program to train yourself to move into your heart energy. This program can be purchased for home use, and with mastery might be an important tool in your self-transformation process.

Although EFT, EMDR and CBT are wonderful ... Amazing Grace is still my favorite resource.

Like any of these resources, Grace is optional. She loves to assist as my co-therapist, especially when clients are distressed. Her stable presence makes her my favorite resource! As you can see by the startled look on her face, she is not feeling very stable during the photo shoot for this website, but you can count on her during our sessions. You may "opt out" of any of these resources, including Grace who has a special waiting area whenever a client declines her benevolent services.
